ARC Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to ebook and audiobook advance review copies supplied by T. J. Hassall. By submitting an ARC application and accepting an ARC, you confirm that you have read and agreed to the terms below.

Eligibility
The ARC programme is strictly for people aged eighteen or over. By applying, you confirm that you are at least eighteen years old.
Applications are open internationally to readers and listeners who understand English. Individual ARC campaigns may have additional eligibility requirements, which will be stated on the relevant application page.
Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance. All applications are reviewed individually, and I reserve the right to decline an application without providing a detailed reason.
Purpose of an ARC
An ARC is a complimentary advance review copy, but it is not simply a free book with no expectation attached. It is supplied with the understanding that the recipient intends to read or listen to it and leave a public review, rating or review post if they complete it.
Publishing is my professional work and livelihood. Every ARC represents years of writing, editing and financial investment. Audiobook copies also have direct distribution costs and represent paid narration, editing and production work.
Reviews are never required to be positive. However, applicants who do not publicly post reviews, ratings or book-related content are not suitable for the ARC programme. Readers who prefer to provide private developmental feedback may be better suited to beta-reading or proofreading opportunities.
Personal and Non-transferable Access
An ARC is supplied only to the person whose application was accepted. It must not be shared, lent, copied, forwarded, redistributed or made accessible to another person.
If someone else is interested in the book or audiobook, they must submit their own application. They may mention that the title was recommended to them, but acceptance is not automatic.
All copyright and other intellectual-property rights remain with T. J. Hassall and any other relevant rights holders. Receiving an ARC does not transfer ownership of the work or grant permission to reproduce or distribute it.
Uploading and Third-party Services
ARC files and content must not be uploaded, imported, submitted, synchronised, backed up, transcribed, converted, processed or transferred to any third-party platform, service, application or website.
This includes AI tools, transcription services, cloud-storage services, file-sharing services, online libraries and content-analysis tools.
The ARC may only be accessed through the delivery method provided by me and, where that delivery method permits it, downloaded onto the accepted recipient’s own personal device for private reading or listening.
No ARC text, audio, chapter, extract or supplementary material may be submitted to an AI system for summarising, analysing, rewriting, training, voice replication or any other purpose.
Audiobook ARCs
Audiobook ARCs are normally delivered through BookFunnel. Accepted listeners will receive an email containing instructions for accessing the audiobook.
An Audible subscription is not required. Technical problems involving the BookFunnel app, account or delivery should be directed to BookFunnel Support.
Audiobook applications are subject to stricter selection criteria because each listener copy carries a direct cost and represents a substantial amount of paid narration, editing and production work. Previous ARC experience and a visible history of public reviewing are therefore required unless an individual campaign states otherwise.
Reviews and Disclosure
Any review, rating or public post must reflect the recipient’s genuine experience and opinion. There is no requirement to give a particular rating or write a positive review.
The recipient must clearly disclose that the ebook or audiobook was supplied free of charge as an advance review copy. The disclosure must be easy for the audience to see and understand rather than hidden among unrelated hashtags or placed somewhere unlikely to be noticed.

Recipients are responsible for following the disclosure rules of the platform on which they publish and any requirements that apply in their own country.
Quotations, Screenshots and Audio
Short quotations may be included in a review or review post, either typed or shown in a screenshot, where the amount used is reasonable, relevant to the review and clearly credited to the title and T. J. Hassall.
Audiobook clips, recordings, transcripts and unpublished supplementary material must not be reproduced or shared.
Please do not tag T. J. Hassall, Jack Winters, Jade Winters aka JV Winters Narration, or any other narrator directly in negative or critical reviews or posts.
Content may be reported where it includes harassment, threats, deliberately fabricated quotations, copyright infringement, unauthorised ARC material or another breach of the relevant platform’s rules.
Review Deadlines
The applicable review deadline will be stated on the relevant application page, in the acceptance email or alongside the delivered ARC.
Audiobook listeners will normally have four weeks from the date they access the audiobook. Ebook campaigns may instead use a specified campaign deadline.
I understand that health, family, work and life in general can interfere with reading plans. Recipients who need additional time should contact me as soon as possible. Reasonable extensions are available and will not be treated negatively where the recipient communicates with me.
Unable to Finish or Withdrawing
Nobody is required to continue reading or listening to something they no longer want or are unable to finish.
If the book or audiobook is not suitable, or circumstances prevent completion, the recipient can contact me rather than forcing themselves to continue. A recipient will not be expected to review something they did not finish.
Repeatedly accepting ARCs and then failing to complete them or communicate may affect eligibility for future ARC opportunities.
Misuse of an ARC
If an ARC is shared, copied, uploaded, redistributed or otherwise used in breach of these terms, I reserve the right to revoke access where technically possible, cancel the recipient’s participation in the current campaign and exclude them from future ARC opportunities.
Serious misuse, including piracy, unauthorised distribution or uploading ARC material to a third-party service, may also be reported to the relevant platform, distributor or service provider.
Future ARC Opportunities
The Chronicles of Elisar is sequential. Later-book ARCs will only be available to readers or listeners who have completed the earlier books required for that point in the series.
Those earlier books do not need to have been received through the ARC programme. They may have been bought, borrowed, read through Kindle Unlimited or listened to independently after release. Having publicly reviewed them is preferable because it helps demonstrate that the applicant completed and engaged with the series.
Acceptance into one ARC campaign does not guarantee acceptance into another.
Personal Information
Information provided in an ARC application will only be used to assess the application, manage the relevant ARC campaign and contact the applicant about it.
If someone joins my ARC team, we may also communicate informally through the social-media platform they use to contact me.
I will not automatically retain application details for future campaigns or use them for unrelated marketing. Before the next required part or volume, I may ask whether the recipient would like to hear about that ARC opportunity.
Changes to These Terms
These terms may be updated when the ARC programme, delivery methods or legal requirements change. The terms applying to a particular campaign will be the version available when the recipient submits their application and accepts the ARC.
