Rûnethvelisse, Southern Ruvenar

This week, for Worldbuilding Wednesday, we’re looking at the newly revised map for Rûnethvelisse!

Once, this place was absolutely beautiful. They were the pioneers of technology, education, travel, and other fields, and so ahead of every other region. It’s hard to imagine that Rûnethvelisse and Thoranorsall are on the same continent, given the difference in their technology levels.

Unfortunately, no one knows if this is what Rûnethvelisse still looks like. Decades ago, the region was attacked by what was believed to be necromancers. Since then, if you step a toe on the boundary of there, you either vanish (in most cases) or die instantly.

There were only a handful of survivors of the attack, and they weren’t very reliable. Most of them spoke gibberish as if they were broken. The worst part was that only around four of them knew enough knowledge to pass on the education from there, and three of them later died in Solaeris, north of Rûnethvelisse, in a similar attack.

The effects of the devastation and rarity of the handy magic are showing its impact more every single day. There are no teachers for the arcane anymore. The last one who could’ve been eligible lives in Sanctaris. He speaks in code and has to have the glyphs deciphered to understand what he is trying to say.

Capital City

Rûnethvelisse – It was known to be where the world’s technology was held. It was utterly destroyed decades ago by undead with only a handful of survivors.

Towns

Celestria – a town that focused on studying the stars and arcane forces. It had the world’s largest telescope.
Sira Lyth – a town known for shimmering shields and magic defences.
Velisse Sarus – a village that specialises in music and arcane magic. Bards were often trained here.

Villages

Meoscathe – a village hidden in a shroud of enchanted lilac mist, where those specialising in illusions studied.
Lunaarthar – a village around a tower that reaches into the stars. Arcane mages study celestial magic and the stars and moon here.
Arcane Kava – a village built around a crystal-infused quarry. Known for enchanting items and crystal cabins.
Sterinvaehl – a village dedicated to studying the flow of magic from the stars. They specialised in teleportation, teleportation, and portals.
Nox Runsta – a village deep in the forest that was protected by ancient glyphs. It is thought if any villages survived, it’d be this one.
Glysservaehl – a village known for its magical glimmerstones that can help to hold arcane spells. These are tiny objects that help with travelling.
Sorthathar – a village surrounding another spire, but this one is a library that circles around.
Sterinmenall – a village that has asteroids frequently land near it. They broke up the stars to create weapons and stones from them. A lot of the highest end of technology was made this way.
Astralis Varde – a village known for studying astral projection and dream magic, making it feel hazy and unreal.

On another note, I have made several language changes, which is why the names on this map have changed significantly. I’ll be checking all the others, too, to make sure it’s all nice and consistent!
