Worldbuilding Fantasy Map Update: Discover Viridorn, Mid-Viridorn Draft Two

Viridorn, Mid-Viridorn
This week, for Worldbuilding Wednesday, we’re looking at the newly revised map for Viridorn!
I apologise profusely for not doing a map last week. I detailed our situation in my #TuesdayTales post yesterday, which has made it difficult for us to create. With my new plan of self-publishing, I can safely say that yes, I will be publishing a book with these maps!
Viridorn is mentioned a lot in Blood of the Banshee, and for good reason. Auralon Dawshielth, our Valariel in Sanctaris, was born in Gleinsathin near the border with Cascara. Zaras, our grumpy bounty hunter, has been living on the green land for some time, too.
It is a place full of natural beauty and magics such as flora calling, thorn binding, beast-bonding, leaf-singing and many other life-giving roles. Many souls around Elisar choose to retire here (or the Cascara region in the south) later on in life.
That said, it is not without its dangers. There is a reason, after all, that the emerald land has the highest rate of bounty hunters. There are many unnatural beasts, dark sorcerers in the forests in gingerbread houses, and runaway pumpkins on the land.
The descriptions below are ever-so-slightly updated.
Capital City
Viridorn – Viridorn is a sprawling city built on neutrality and divided into distinct sectors. Here, elves reside amongst silver-leaved trees and intricate architecture that seems to grow organically from the earth itself. Humans occupy a bustling, cobbled marketplace surrounded by cosy taverns and practical stone dwellings. Orcs inhabit sturdy, fortress-like structures adorned with vibrant banners and the rhythmic pounding of blacksmiths echoing through their streets. Despite the cultural distinctions, the residents share bustling communal squares, where daily markets and occasional festivals foster a spirit of peaceful coexistence.
Towns
Virihollith – a trade-focused town surrounded by farmland. Known for sturdy livestock, crop abundance, and well-kept barns.
Bierishru- specialises in breeding war mounts. The town is filled with the thunder of hooves and the glow of blacksmith forges.
Torvnerill – a fortified town by the river, known for healing herbs and mystic pools. Alchemists and healers frequent its gardens.
Merdolglien – a meadow-surrounded and wildlife-friendly. Residents live in harmony with animals and craft from their livestock.
Villages
Grauvelat – a humble village surrounded by farmland where animals aid with the harvest. Known for its cooperative spirit and gentle creatures.
Lohtirill – a forest village woven into towering trees, held together by gentle, living magic and lit by lanterns after dusk.
Talilscathe – nestled among ancient willows, this village breeds the longest-lived mounts known for loyalty and calm temperaments.
Solaermerdo – a meadow village filled with bright flowers and sunshine year-round. Known for its optimism and seasonal festivals.
Torvnefloris – a beautiful but dangerous village of thorned blossoms. Locals carefully cultivate these plants for powerful oils.
Murthvioil – a colourful village where gardens spill into the streets and lucky, joyful mounts are carefully bred.
Salvirrill – a scholarly village where mages seek out wise creatures. Quiet lanes and leafy cottages give it a cosy feel.
Forneglien – a peaceful village where deer-like creatures roam free. Villagers live in harmony with the land and wildlife.
Gliensathin – a village between cliffs and rivers that balances all three branches of this continent’s magic. Its architecture blends stone and plant designs.
Solaerlohti Hollith – a glowing village surrounded by golden trees. Known for its serene atmosphere and protective foliage.
Lavin Vaehl – a mossy cave village with hidden herbal pathways. Residents live quietly and collect magical minerals.
Hasela Grauve – a village where trees produce powerful nuts and bark. The streets smell of roasting and resin.
I’m considering writing a post on how I create my maps, as I’ve been asked a few times. I’ll see if I can find the time!
Thank you for exploring more of Elisar with me.
