Worldbuilding Fantasy Map Update: Discover Solaeris, Mid-Ruvenar, Draft Two

Solaeris, Mid-Ruvenar
This week, for Worldbuilding Wednesday, we’re looking at the newly revised map for Solaeris!
Last week, I was still planning my schedule and didn’t have the time to complete a post, or even draw on the maps. This is probably the one I’m least certain about its completion. I think it’s because I know how important it is to the story.
Solaeris had a devastating event happen to it two decades prior to where Blood of the Banshee begins. It was nearly identical to what happened in Rûnethvelisse, but on a smaller scale. That said, the city of Solaeris isolated itself and hasn’t contacted the outside world since. The rest of Solaeris, unlike Rûnethvelisse, can be travelled within, but they are hostile to travellers.
Solaeris was the birthplace of Fire magic. They weren’t known for being too destructive, though. Maybe a bit. Okay… maybe they burnt down several places, but there are a lot of flammable trees around in some regions (cough, Viridorn, cough).
Solaeris was a middle ground of Ruvenar between the high technology rates of Rûnethvelisse and the lower ones of the tribal Thoranorsall. Their education system was known in some ways to be better than Rûnethvelisse, the creators of teaching, because they were open to learning the more primitive styles of the world.
The descriptions below are ever-so-slightly updated.
Capital City
Solaeris – A bustling city famed for mastery of fire magic, filled with skilled mages and adorned with intricate architecture designed to harness flames and solar power. Brightly lit streets, marble buildings, glowing lanterns, and frequent magical displays make it striking at any hour.
Towns
Flelyrmenall – known for exceptional blacksmiths and renowned instructors of fire and arcane magic. The air rings with the sound of hammers on glowing metal, and fire dances from open forges.
Sterinfyre Vaehl – famous for breathtaking night skies alive with burning stars and fiery constellations. Astronomers and fire mages flock here to study the celestial phenomena.
Cierrna Sineler – a rugged desert town where mages rigorously test their skills against harsh firestorms and scorching winds, pushing their magic to extreme limits.
Cuskhaldir – home to large arenas dedicated exclusively to training and combat practice. Battles and friendly competitions are held regularly, drawing crowds from across the region.
Villages
Lynx Cris – celebrated for expert tamers who bond with local lynx creatures, training them as loyal companions and protectors.
Aemyr Uil – set beside striking cliffs, this village is famous for glowing fireballs cascading down rock faces at dusk, illuminating the area in a mesmerising spectacle.
Tempaar Sceru – struck by lightning long ago, igniting permanent fires across the village, it’s now renowned for mastering storm-infused fire magic.
Aescevelisse – known for its healthy, drifting ash that falls like gentle snow, villagers claim it has remarkable beneficial properties (often used as shampoo, for example) despite its mysterious origin.
Solaer Poro – situated atop a small mountain peak, villagers excel at solar magic, utilising powerful sun rays more often than traditional fire magic.
Tyndan Vioil – nestled within a forest of uniquely fire-resistant trees, this village blends with nature, protected from flames by the resilient woodland.
Te Drimm Rux – a central desert village destroyed decades ago, its ruins still mark a place without clear ownership.
Flaelalafen – peaceful and welcoming, fire magic here provides soothing warmth, restful lighting, and tranquil healing spaces.
Byr Sarus – renowned across Solaeris for spectacular fire festivals, celebrations filled with joyous displays of flame, music, and dance.
Cuskfren – quiet and secretive, this village is perpetually surrounded by thick, mysterious mists that keep it secluded from the outside world.
Isfyrna – situated around naturally warm hot springs, villagers enjoy health and relaxation from the healing waters that are gently warmed by fire magic.
Cindil Varde – perched high among mountainous peaks, the village is known for vigilant watchtowers whose fire signals can be seen from great distances.
Feonix Grauve – devoted entirely to worshipping the legendary phoenix, locals take pride in tales that the rare phoenixes in existence were born nearby.
Aesce Porthe – once a thriving gateway to Solaeris, now blanketed in layers of ash, it stands silent as a reminder of the power and unpredictability of fire magic.
I expect this map, in particular, to undergo further changes in the future. Not so much the mountains and rivers, but I think I need to tweak my language a tad.
