Worldbuilding Fantasy Map Update: Cascara, Southern Viridorn

Fantasy Map: Aekinthar
I’ve been quieter than usual while recovering from tonsillitis, but I didn’t want to miss sharing this week’s map. It’s been nice to have something gentle and water-bound to work on while resting.
This is Cascara, a beautifully serene archipelago in Southern Viridorn — a region surrounded by crystal blue waters, calm misty rivers, and a deep connection to water-based magic.
Cascara is still in development when it comes to its creatures, flora, and folklore. Unlike Lunaaris (which is more developed) or Sanctaris (currently about halfway through), this region is in its early stages. I’m really excited to start drawing the life of this region!
Like the other regions, this map is a first draft. The full geography and natural features will be added later as I begin shaping the landscapes in more detail. As much as it’s a fantasy map, I’d still like mostly geographical sense. I wanted to share this version to begin introducing what Cascara means to the world.
At its heart lies a crystal palace surrounded by waterfalls—a place that will play a crucial role in the story’s future.
Towns:
- Safira Forls – Centred around a majestic sapphire waterfall known for its healing properties.
- Sirarirst – A town with a shimmering silver river. These waters are traded and used in psychic communication and visions.
- Lunaaraquvis – A coastal town where moonlit waters aid fertility. It has the closest boat links to Lunaaris.
Villages:
- Sirrilrill – A village of seers who enhance psychic gifts with water.
- Empernirs – Built around a magical spring.
- Reoncathe – Constant light rain drapes this village. This is healing rain, and they have an unnaturally long lifespan. Known for retirement.
- Glereaquvis – Known for its sacred scrying pools and caves.
- Rillscathe – A village hidden in trees, where healing water rituals are practised.
- Vulcris – Ocean-side, where protective water spells are trained.
- Aquvis Sineler – Known for refining psychic communication.
- Meoruith – A village near a quiet fishing river. These fish have magic properties.
- Azuri Sfaera – Built around a deep azure pool and a Valariel training ground.
- Tonath – Where villagers use water for agriculture and defensive casting.
- Lonrescathe – A peaceful lakeside village known for healing rituals.
Right now, I’m mostly focused on Lunaaris and Sanctaris, as they’re the first regions featured in Book One. The names here are still early, and I think I’ll tweak the language a bit. When I return to these maps for a second pass, I’ll be refining both the geography and the tone.
Thank you for exploring another part of this world with me. Cascara is still forming — but I’m excited about what it might grow into.
